My Experience at the MTN MPULSE SPELLING BEE 2024
The MTN mPulse Spelling Bee has always been a fascinating and inspiring experience for me. Over the years, it has grown into one of the most exciting competitions for young students in Nigeria, and being part of it has been a journey filled with lessons, hope, and determination.
My journey began in 2022 when I participated for the very first time. I was full of excitement and determination as I prepared for the competition. Making it past the first round gave me confidence, but unfortunately, I didn’t make it to the finals that year. Though disappointed, I kept my hope alive, believing that someday, success would be mine.
In 2023, I returned with renewed energy. This time, I pushed myself harder, doubling my efforts and commitment to studying and practicing spelling words. Despite all my preparation, I still didn’t advance as far as I had hoped. Once again, I was left with the reality that success doesn’t always come immediately, but I reminded myself that persistence and faith would eventually pay off.
By 2024, I was determined not to let previous setbacks define me. I went into the competition fully prepared, fortified with an even deeper study of spelling words and a stronger mindset. This time, things began to change. I scaled through the first and second rounds successfully, and when I received the invitation to the grand finale, I could hardly contain my joy. It felt like my prayers had finally been answered, and I knew that all the effort over the years had not been in vain.
The grand finale was scheduled to hold in Lagos on November 30, 2024. My guardian and I traveled on the 29th, and on that same day, a runoff was conducted. I was curious and nervous, yet I knew confidence was the key to moving forward. I reminded myself to stay calm and believe in my abilities.
When the big day came, I woke up feeling nervous but determined. I told myself repeatedly that I could do it. As the competition progressed, every stage I successfully crossed boosted my confidence and strengthened my belief in myself. By the time I reached the finals, I was overwhelmed with joy and gratitude. At first, I was simply content with making it that far, but to my greatest surprise, God had even bigger plans for me. Against all odds, I emerged the winner of the 2024 MTN mPulse Spelling Bee.
It was a dream come true and a moment I will never forget. I am deeply grateful to MTN Nigeria for creating such a platform that invests in the growth and development of young minds. The MTN mPulse Spelling Bee is not just a competition; it is an opportunity for children to learn, grow, and showcase their potential. MTN has proven to be more than just a telecom company—it is a brand that truly cares about giving back to society and nurturing the future of education in Nigeria.
Looking ahead, I am excited for the 2025 season. I hope to attend the on-ground regional contests, not only to participate but also to encourage other amazing spellers. This competition has shaped me, taught me resilience, and shown me the power of perseverance. Thank you, MTN, for this wonderful and life-changing opportunity.
